The workshop will function as a liberal space for the kids to explore creative possibilities under their own perception, using their bodies, the space and other objective materials to make installations, paintings, artistic actions, etc. In this way the children will stimulate their capability to interact in a creative way with their surroundings. The exercises practice techniques inspired by theater, dance and visual arts. They will create their own situations and interpretations as they play, having possibly, for the first time, a formal encounter with conceptual and action art.
We aim to work with the perception of the kids in what is considered a performative ambit. The kids will explore with their bodies, their environment, their curiosity and their skills to interpret and solve problems. They will build a relationship between the game and the art process, keeping in mind the enjoyment of the action as the main purpose of making art. (Start the workshop in the Performance Room.)
The Kid’s and present parents will sit as they were going to watch theater. We can use some of illumination to make the experience closer to being in a real play. We enter the stage and start a short improvisation of movement. Then, we unexpectedly stop the presentation and give start to the workshop.
“Musicians use musical instruments. Painters use paper, canvas, paint, etc. Actors use make up, costumes, etc. Dancers also use make up, costumes, especial shoes, etc. What do they all use in common as the main tool? their bodies.”
We will start inviting the kids to the stage to be part of the process of creating a work of art. They will be asked about what is art for them. We will explain art as the sensation an artist feel during the process of creation, and how the “art piece” can expreses or translate those feelings. After a small talk we start the actions.
